Bought it, read it, loved it July 22, 2010 Mr. Albert M. Hickey (UK) I read this to get a different way to motivate people and it was a real eye opener.
The concepts presented were very clear and makde sense to me but I knew I was operating a different way.
I changed a few small things in my approach based on this book and I have definitely seen a difference in how people responded.
Worked for me.
Excellent one stop shop for motivation psychology. July 17, 2010 Laurence Hauser Really enjoyed this book. Helped explain why I find certain things enjoyable and some not. It has helped me clarify what I want out of life and a career.
Well written, easy to read. Everyone should read this book.
Getting to know what makes people tick July 11, 2010 Andy Green (beautiful Barry Island) The challenge of how can we get people to do things is helped by this well written, illuminating insight into the growing understanding we have of motivation.
For anyone involved in the communications business, like me, this is an invaluable prompt to think flexibly and check we are aiming at the right target if we are seeking to achieve change. Geared to achieving a difference in the real world, it's a good read
Brilliant book July 6, 2010 Mr. D. Saunders (UK) Brilliant book. Wasn't sure what to expect but it's really made me think about work, life & everything in between. Autonomy, mastery & purpose - my new watch words.
Are you a "Type I" person? July 4, 2010 Alex (UK) You're probably a Type I person and you don't even realize it. Pink argues that modern management treats most people as human resources, ie assets that can be monitored and controlled and rewarded and punished until we perform. However, Pink contends that businesses need to treat people as autonomous people who WANT to do good work WITHOUT the need for excessive reward and punishment.
Well-argued and backed up by compelling, readable stories.
