A great intro to reading body language February 26, 2010 Marc Munier (Brighton, England) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is great intro book, doesn't go into loads and loads of detail, but it does give practical advice for gauging what people are thinking.
I've already started to use what I have learnt in business meetings, that's not to say that I can now read peoples minds but being more aware of the non-verbal signals definitely makes you a more effective communicator.
A little American cheesy in places but otherwise an enjoyable and educational read.
Mediocre book on Body Language February 18, 2010 Pedro Miranda 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
"Having also read The Definitive Book of Body Language: How to Read Others' Attitudes by Their Gestures by Allan Pease and Barbara Pease I can't help but compare. Where as The Definitive Book of Body Language (TDBOBL) was detailed, witty and had real world examples this book seemed a bit like an advertisement for a retired FBI detective." - Aidan F
I totally agree with Mr. Aidan F review on this book, he totally expressed by opinion on the book, I was so disappointed with this book that I've just quit reading about half way through and went back to re-read the "The Definitive Book of Body Language" - by Allan Pease.
Not detailed enough and better reads out there February 14, 2010 Aidan F 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having also read The Definitive Book of Body Language: How to Read Others' Attitudes by Their Gestures by Allan Pease and Barbara Pease I can't help but compare. Where as The Definitive Book of Body Language (TDBOBL) was detailed, witty and had real world examples this book seemed a bit like an advertisement for a retired FBI detective.
The examples where all real world and while they illustrated the point they didn't give you the same eureka! feeling as when reading TDBOBL.
Also TDBOBL stated its points with confidence and without apologies where as What Everybody is Saying was almost painfully politically correct.
Even those in law enforcement or roles where reading the situation quickly is important would be better served with The Definitive Book of Body Language.
Great, concise and honest Book January 25, 2010 L. Dowd (Ireland) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I loved this book. Very concise and definitive. Especially good as the authour uses real-life police cases where he solved crimes by reading non verbal behaviour. This book will definately prove useful in your everyday life. The best thing about it is the authour shows absolutely no ego in his writing, unlike many experts who write books. 10/10.
Read this and you'll be looking at everyone in a new light. January 23, 2010 Susanne (England, UK) An interesting read that shows you how to really look at everyday situations and realise that you could be missing some important signals to help you communicate better. A mix of useful case studies and illustrations to help you remember what you are reading better enabling you to apply it immediately. A useful book to help you tap into understanding body language better and spotting what people are really saying.
