5 out of 5 stars Everybody needs to read/listen to this!   August 31, 2010
B. Horton (Surrey, UK)
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Many years ago I had a friend who used to periodically say "it's time to read my book - everyone's being horrible to me" - "her book" was "How to Win Friends and Influence People", and she maintained that people's response to her was directly influenced by how clear the concepts were in her head in her daily life! - I should have borrowed it back then - but never did.
I recently had some problems with my eyes and after listening to a couple of talking books, realised just how much more clearly the narrative stayed in my mind when I heard the words rather than just reading.... and it was around then we found this on Amazon. I have since, been listening as I drive - and intend to re-listen periodically, there is just too much to take in completely all at once. It is such an easy way to double your time - it doesn't distract you from driving, but the words none the less seep in. I plan to look for more similar books on CD.
Although some of Dale Carnegie's examples make some of the concepts seem a little outdated, and it is all undeniably very American, there is such a wealth of wisdom that you can't fail to change the way you deal with things even if you only take one concept to heart at a time.
It has always been up there with the most trusted of source books on self improvement, and to have it in this format is just marvellous - I absolutely recommend both the title and the medium.

5 out of 5 stars Timeless Wisdom   August 25, 2010

I have owned this book for some 10 years now and have read it and re-visited numerous times. In my opinion, Carnegie's message is to become a better person by taking into consideration other people's feelings and values and taking the high road, whatever the situation or the crisis may be.

5 out of 5 stars Must have   August 6, 2010

This is one of the best books I've ever read. It literally changes the way you see people around you. Plus, it makes you happier and better person.

5 out of 5 stars It saddens me that some people will never read this book.   July 9, 2010
Mr. Martin Bray (United Kingdom)
This is possibly my favorite book of all time. It does what it says on the tin, and so much more. It has opened my eyes to how people (and I)think, and how to deal with them. Yet the advice it gives seems so obvious, so naturally easy to follow if you read it with even a thimbleful of willingness to listen. It explains how to deal with people by explaining people, in easy to read, enjoyable, conversational tones which make you understand, and lead you to the conclusions almost by yourself. Every page makes me gasp "It's true! I DO do this! And so does everybody else! How have I not noticed this before? What a fool I was." And then I giggle like a schoolgirl as I contemplate the unending list of ways that I can change my manner for my (and everybody else's) benefit. Since reading it, I have increased my relations with everybody I know severalfold, and feel happier and more confident in any and every situation requiring even an iota of people skills. I struggle to explain and reccommend this book enough. Read it. Please, please, read this book. I promise it will not leave you unchanged.

5 out of 5 stars Classic   July 8, 2010
Mr. B. M. Fisher (Hull, UK)
A timeless classic.
Well written, containing good points. A bit of babble in places, but for a work of this age to still be equally valid today speaks volumes.
