Didn't notice any benefit over 3 months personally.
It's definatley not unpleasant to use,blue light is nice and the unit is incredibly well built - but I think this is perhaps only going to help people who may not be active enough to be out in daylight.
It isn't full spectrum light and i think people with "SAD" need more full spectrum- this literally is the blue spectrum only.
I'm surprised that the digital clock can go out by several minutes over a month-at this price i'd expect the clock to be really accurate.
The alarm has a pleasant sound to wake you.
Initially it's fun to have a new gadget and in my case,THAT made me feel better.
I do think and feel this product is a placebo.
To be fair to Philips,they do offer a 30 day money back warranty - the thing is,I kept it because I thought It must work for me eventually - so if it doesn't work by say day 20 something for you - my advise is send it back.
It's obvious from the reviews here,that some people really did feel it helped them.
L.E.D's (Light Emmiting Diodes)are incredibly cheap (I mean pennies!)and really I think that should and could be more reflected in the price.
Although this product boasts an innovation design award for year 2009, if you read the literature it states that the award wasn't based on actually testing it.
This is exactly what IS stated near barcode(small print) on the underside of the box mine came in:
"The innovations Design and Engineering Award is based upon descriptive materials submitted to the judges.CEA did not verify the accuracy of any submission or any claims made and did not test the item to which the award was given"
So I'm about to submit my theoretical spaceship to them next year i think :)
It's not an unpleasant light to have on to say illuminate a wall blue - or even to put on behind a TV to prevent eyestrain.
I'd love to be able to say I found it worked - but for me, it doesn't.

Having suffered severe SAD for many years I decided to give this lamp a try
I needed a light box that offered some degree of portability so the internal battery was a must have!
Having used traditional light boxes I found that the light needed to be of the ultra high powered type for about 4 hours a day to feel any kind of lift
Having researched the subject I decided the way forward was to try philips blu wave technology!
So what do I think of the lamp
Well it seems to hit the spot I use the lamp 3 times a day for 30 minuites a time starting when I first get up
I tend to hold the lamp within 8 or 9 inches from my eyes this seems to work best for me
For those of us that work night shift start your treatment as soon as you get up and use the lamp on your rest breaks this seems to keep the aches and pains away
Would I recommend this lamp the answer would be yes

I have wanted some sort of light for a few years now but not only did the price put me off but they all seemed big and ugly. I decided to go for this after reading the reviews here (and a friend getting it) and I'm so pleased I did. I didn't need to use it for many days to feel the benefit and it's neat, portable and comes with it's own case...

I had tried a Lumie Brightlight, but was not happy on several counts, but primarily the lack of health benefit. After three weeks, I had experienced none of the health improvements advertised. On top of that , it was bulky on my desk, and hard to transport. The goLITE is everything the Lumie was not. First, I feel loads better; brighter through the day and less tired. Whether it's the blue light as opposed to white , I don't know, but I don't believe my improvement is a coincidence. In addition, the unit is small , light, neat and easily transportable, so it travels with me . And it's rechargeable , so most of the time it's not connected and so is very discrete on the desk or wherever. Finally, the battery life is good : at least 5 days between charges at 15 minutes per day. Highly recommended particularly as it's cheaper than the competition.

I was dubious but hopeful when I bought this... but it actually, really works! I have real trouble getting up in the morning and feel really heavy and tired. I think its much worse in wintery and dark conditions when I also get the blues more severely. So i thought i'd give this a go. I have been using it for 20-30 mins on nearly full - full power in the mornings and aftwards i find im more clear-headed, brighter, uplifted... kind of how you feel walking outside on a beautiful sunny day with the summer breeze in your face. I don't know how it works but I don't care either! it's a little ray of sunshine in a box that I can keep by my bedside, genius! This machine is great too because it's a really small and portable device in a neat little leather pouch, super easy and light to throw in a bag.
The only reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the blueness of the light is a bit annoying when im applying makeup at the same time.
