I had heard lots of great stuff about this latest Braun, having not owned an epilator for 20 years i was hopeful but dubious at the same time. A work colleague have expressed delight at her purchase and even let me feel her silky smooth leg. Recieved it very promptly thursday, charged it as quickly as possible and then started, stopped to get something to bite down on! Rubber handled comb in mouth and with two cats looking terrified (its not particlarly loud but they are sensetive to anything other than the sound of the Felix being opened.) I dribbled a lot and gasps even more but it did work, very hard indeed and after 40 minutes of me being a big baby i got both yes both legs done, below the knee obviously because by that time i was in need of tea. The glass of red had not hit the mark by a long shot.
The next day i mused with trying it again for the underarm area, it took me 36 until saturday afternoon to pluck (no pun intended) the courage up but there i was in the bathroom with the same comb that had offered little comfort before tucked in my mouth. 7 seconds later i am wiping my blood of my shiny new appliance and thinking is this worth the pain. Tried several times but with half one armpit done and bleeding badly i gave up.
The next day not to be stopped by pain or the sight of my own blood i tried the bikini area, what a fool i was. No comb this time as i thought i could handle it, John Rambo himself would have walked away from this day mare.
I will try again, as i don't like to be beaten especailly from a piece of electric vibrating plastic so i will venture to give it another and yet another go. I will be the one limping down the street in Plymouth, clutching her bloodied arm pit but with very smooth legs and a lighter purse.
On the hole if your harder than Rambo or Arni give it a go, if you can throw away 70 odd quid and not regret it could have been a weeks food money or the kids school clothes, then go for it. Don't tell your partner how much it cost for you to bleed over your nice towels or not be able to wear deoderant for 2 days. It is pretty, it has glitter in it, it comes with a lovely little white bag for all the other little tools of torture and a dinky little brush to brush away your hair , skin and little red blood cells. You know if you want it your going to buy it so take no heed of my health warning that it is a piece of equipment not for the faint hearted only the foolish. Enjoy the pain, i am trying it next time with Vodka.

This product is fantastic and I wish I had bought one years ago! Was always put off buying before because people said they were very painful. I have been using sugaring which isn't quite as painful as waxing but can still hurt as it's pulling hairs out by the roots. I didn't find it too painful but perhaps I have a high pain threshhold.
I read through all the reviews and decided that I would give it a go. I used it on my legs first and it didn't hurt. Having said that I don't have many hairs as sugaring seems to stop them growing but I do have a lot on my knees and the back and front of my legs and it didn't hurt a bit even though they were quite long on my upper legs. I then did the fair hairs on my face and that stung a little but was not unbearable. I did use the gentle setting (1) as suggested to start with but will use 2 next time. I then did my underarms, it did make them slightly red for a while but they soon settled down. It was so quick and easy I couldn't believe it and my skin is so smooth. It is rather noisy, a bit like a lawnmower but I can put up with that as it does such a brilliant job. It also has different heads for underarms and face and also a shaver and trimmer head which was great as I had broken my previous trimmer. It is expensive but I think you get what you pay for and if you consider what you would pay for waxing or sugaring it will pay for itself very quickly. As other people have said it does need an adaptor plug if you don't have a shaver socket but I bought one for £1.08 at the same time as the epilator so it doesn't add much cost. It has a drawstring bag to keep everything in (even the adaptor plug) and is light weight so easy to take away with you.
This is a fantastic epilator and I wish I'd had the courage to try one years ago though they have probably improved over the years. Would definitely recommend.

Very pleased with the epilator, quickly got used to it and use it often (the novelty hasn't worn off yet!). Relatively pain-free to use, apart from underarms! Nice smooth finish.
Brilliant alternative to waxing September 4, 2010

The first time I used this I was a little freaked out by the noise of the epilating tweezers whizzing around. They sound like they are going to be painful..... but actually it was just a little uncomfortable. Nothing to moan about at all!
Make sure that the first time you use it, it is in the evening, as you are likely to get a waxing type rash, which soon subsides.
I found that once you have done it the first time, the 2nd time is even more painfree. Great results.
Can be time consuming, but satisfying!
It is necessary to moisturise well and the exfoliate regularly as ingrowing hairs can be a prob (as they can with waxing) but it is a great product.
Even tried underarms (agony 1st time.... had to do it in 3 second bursts!!! 2nd time was painful, 3rd time was a breeze!)
It is efficient and I would recommend it. In fact - 2 of my friends now want one, having had a quick go on mine!

I had previously used a much cheaper epilator, and although it was painful and uncomfortable to use I liked the effectiveness of epilation. So I thought I would treat myself to a more expensive model, and opted for this Braun as it can be used in water. I did have very high expectations from it, mainly due to the price as it is a lot of money to invest! Also it claims a less painful and more comfortable epilation experience, which is always going to catch your eye with things like this :-) And I certainly wasn't disappointed with the results.
The first time you use it, it will hurt a bit. Especially if you have not epilated or waxed before. Its just a bit of a sting really. But the more you use it, the less it hurts (I don't know the science behind this, maybe cos the hairs don't grow as firmly rooted as before?). After a few uses it is much, much more comfortable. Legs are fine to do dry (pretty much painless, apart from near the ankles which is always a bit tender), and I think it gives a better finish as opposed to wet epilation. But for underarm and bikini, I do find it more comfortable to do them in the shower, with a tiny bit of shower gel lathered on the skin to make it more smooth.
My old epilator used to nick the skin regularly, but have not had any problems at all with this one - No blood shed once, and I've been using it for nearly 6 months now.
I have found this to be so effective, and it certainly lives up to the claims. It does remove short and downy fine hairs with no effort, and I can do my whole legs in about 15 minutes as it is so efficient.
Other plus points:
- Attachments are very handy
- Smartlight really helps when epilating in the shower or in dimmer light as you can easily see if you have missed anywhere
- Well designed shape, fits in the hand comfortably and with the tilting head is easy to maneuvre and get to harder to reach places.
- Keeps its charge very well, and charges quickly too.
Only possible downsides:
- The dial is a bit fiddly to turn it on. If you're in the shower with soap on your hands its a bit of a struggle to turn it on!
- Plastic on the handle is quite smooth, and could do with a bit more rubber so it doesn't slip out of your hands when in the shower.
I have not once thought that I shouldn't have spent that much money on a hair removal product, and I'm certain I will get many years use out of it. And it has probably already paid for itself with the price of razor blades being so ridiculous! I would recommend this product to anyone, and would not go back to any other brand of epilator now. It is genius!
